Time to Take Care of Yourself

Wow what a week, I am feeling the stress everywhere in our community. Not only when I read the newspaper (yes I read the newspaper), but what I see going on around the internet as I read my friends blogs and people Twitter their comments (http://twitter.com/troubledteen). Now is the time for the Saturday Morning Stretch, time to breath get back in touch with what “rocks your boat” and feeling the gratitude for all that you have (and have not).  If you are like me I need to take a break from the financial crisis and pamper myself without breaking the bank. Here are a few ideas to put life back into your daily routine. Possibly your teen may want to join you.

I came up with five inexpensive extracuricular activities.

  •  When was the last time you listened to music? Pick your favorite CD or go through your iTune library and make a playlist, then listen to it, uninteruptted. If you are tired of the CD’s / iTunes  you own  go down (maybe walk) to your local store that has listening stations and listen to some new music.
  • Can’t afford to go out at night, take a community education class. What do you want to learn? Meet people in your community with like interestes. Most community education classes are offered at affordable prices and do not take much time.
  • It is Fall and Halloween is right around the corner. So what if your kids are grown, that doesn’t mean you can’t go to the Pumpkin Patch. Many of them have homemade food and crafts.
  • Go for a Hike. Even if it is just around the block, hikes are free. The fall colors are out and the air smells good.
  • Go on a diet. What? Did you really say that? Yes is I did. I don’t know about you, but I can’t afford to go out and buy new clothes right now, but I do have a closet full of clothes that are a bit snug. Join Weight Watchers, it is cheaper than a new holiday wardrobe. The internet tools for tracking what you eat and exercise are kind of fun.

Ok, corney as they may seem these are my ideas, what are yours? Leave a comment now!

Love the idea of knitting, especially now that it is getting cooler. Knit me some socks!

Thanks for the reminder that we have so many alternatives in our life. I visited my local yarn store this morning for the first time in months. He said last week was brutal for him. I told him I would back soon, to get reacquainted with my knitting needles.
