43 Years Ago LSD Banned In The United States

Man On Acid Trip Tells All, this story was written on May 30, 1966 and was  in today’s   San Francisco Chronicle from the archives. When this story was written I was approaching my teen years  and knew about LSD. In fact I think there may have been more pill popping than marijuana use during this time.  This was also the time of Twiggy, Haight Ashbury, the beginning of free love, to mention a few of the movements.  My question,  do today’s parents  really have it any worse than the generations of the past?  I remember this as  a  pretty scary parenting experience for my mom and I have to admit I was not the best kid. Even so I did redeem myself,  received  good grades in high school and finished college but I did give my parents many reasons to worry.

In 1966 LSD was banned in the United States which coincidentally was after that article was written. This is a quote written by an ad agency writers first time taking the drug.

I’m having the most heavenly hallucinations – purple, green and blue patterns pouring all over me like a deck of cards …

What do you think are the teen issues really more difficult for today’s parents than for the parents of past generations? And if so why?

My parents were very into LSD and I was exposed to it at an early age. I think more studies should be done on the long term psychological and sociological effects of the drug. I believe it can help people to tap into a universal cosmic wisdom that is embedded into our genetic memory.
