Troubled Teen Blog Is Back From Our Journey

Getting stranded in London for 4 extra days really set me back once we got home. Obviously, we did get back, after one heck of a long flight, that should have been direct. I just looked at my blog and noticed that I left you hanging. When the dust settles a bit I will write an updated blog post and hopefully get some pics up from our trip. London is a wonderful place, I would go back in a second.

Presently I am really feeling overwhelmed with my teens, my youngest son that was supposed to be the easy one has really had a bad year. It is so disconcerting and sometimes I really feel like I failed my kids, but I am trying to move past that thinking. Troubled Teen Blog is still thriving. In fact the other day, I was thinking a more appropriate name may have been Troubled Parent Blog.

Side note: I apologize for all the typos in my London posts, I was writing them from my PalmPre which is not the best to say the least. I also just noticed and my husband pointed out my grammar in this post. Maybe I should go back to school.

If you feel like commenting, I would love to hear how the end of the school year is progressing for you.

I think it was wise for us bringing him home before he turned 18, even though it has been a bumpy road. He is making positive strides, some steps backwards and a few forward. I think it is a big transition from the restricted lifestyle at an RTC and then coming back into the real world. My son also started doing much better academically before he came home. I think that is a good indicator. October will be here before you know it.

Glad you made it back. And yes: arriving back in reality = overwhelming. I’ve been thinking of you. My son in troubled teen boarding school in Missouri is now working very hard to come home to CA. He’s really stepped up in his academic progress – #1 in the school now. And behavior is now very good – after a year of highs & lows. So, it looks like he may be coming home around October – 5 months before his 18th birthday. And my husband actually said that he’s glad, because he wants to “have one more shot at him before he turns 18.” I couldn’t agree with him more. And I know you have followed a similar path. I’ll be tuning in :)
