Our trip to London has been wonderful, after the first night we have gotten along famously. But now the volcano has hit! I did not think I would see the tulips bloom, but we are still here and no sign of the airport opening. We were scheduled to leave on 4/19, and now rescheduled for 4/22. I am just praying that flight does not get cancelled. Today they should have started domestic flights, but I guess the volcano became active once again.
As you know it is only my son and I on this trip, we have had fun but I think we have both had enough of each other. At this point we are coping, he does not do well with unplanned transitions so the first day we realized that we were stuck, I worried about about a relapse. We both had a moment of hysteria, but we are now much calmer and he continues to do well. I think we both have a renewed respect for each other.
I am grateful that the flat we are staying in is available. The owner is allowing us to stay until we can get out; at least we are not on the street like many people or paying outrageous hotel rates. Everyone keeps telling us to enjoy our time here, but until you have been in this type of situation it is not easy. Plus I have to work the money does not go on forever. When I am not working I am not making money. At one time I had the corporate job, where they paid you when you were not there, vacations etc. Then maybe I would enjoy it more. Luckily my clients so far have been very understanding.
Our biggest concern is to stay safe, know that this too will pass. Currently, I am at an internet store (for lack of better words) it is a business with many computer terminals, not a cafe. When I walk out the door it will be after 11:00 am, my son I think is still sleeping at the flat. I took the underground to get here. I am going to the Chelsea area to look at some shops, there is a UK store Cath Kidson, supposed to have some cute stuff. My son enjoys Camden Town, much like the Haight, but almost Disneyland like. I will post images when we get back. The people in Camden Town are very colorful (for lack of better words). Our nanny that took care of the boys when they were little now lives here and we have spent time with her, which has been wonderful for my son, because she still calls him ‘her boy’. As you can see it is not all doom and gloom, the weather has been wonderful, not one day of rain, blue skys everywhere, but it gets very cold at night. The weather may be part of the problem with the volcano.
One last thing, the gardens and museums are to die for. Most of the best museums are free. That is all for now, time for me to get out of this inernet shop.

Sounds like you are doing well – all things considered. We’ve had a UK guest here in California. He was scheduled to fly back on Sunday – but you know how that’s changed. It’s a day to day event. The last news update was that the volcano was getting ready to belch a huge cloud this week. On another front, airlines have been running test flights and have successfully flown under the ash clouds.
