Would you know it if you found it in your teens possession? I would not, the first time I read about it was in our local newspaper and later a parent brought it up to me. Then I thought I need to learn more about this. Apparently the effects are similar to marijuana but more potent and it is legal. K2 is a synthetic drug produced in China and Korea, a mixture of herbs and spices sprayed with a synthetic compound similar to THC. THC is the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, generally it is smoked or inhaled through a pipe.
K2 is banned in Europe but legal in the United States. It is popular among those on “probation” and is moving into the high school population. Many states are proposing bills to make it illegal with the same punishments as marijuana.

I don’t think I have seen any in my house and I don’t know much about it except for what I have posted here. I would like to hear your thoughts, if you have experience with K2, do your teens talk about it or share what you know about this newly publicized drug. Please comment.

Sorry Vasco, but we do not swear on this blog or make a judgement about other readers. Know one likes that and we are all free to state our opinions. I wanted to leave your opening sentence, so my readers would know where you are coming from. I am assuming, from your comments, you have a lot of experience with different types of substance and I appreciate your opinion. It is important to hear and hopefully understand all sides.

Is it cynical or just experienced? Interesting that she talks about not smoking weed. The cigarettes are a bummer, I am dealing with those too. What are you going to do?
My daughter admitted smoking it. She said it was pretty expensive and sold in our local smoke shops as incense. I am happy to say she read about it and it scared her pretty good. She came to me and told me all of this and promised that she has stopped smoking both weed and this new version…too bad she won’t commit to stop smoking cigarettes. I am optimistic and a little wary of her new anti-drug stance. I hope she isn’t just saying this to throw me off. Wow, I have become pretty cynical!

I’ve just got an email about a new drug in our area that looks like pop rocks…and because kids think its pop rocks…they overdose on first use usually…ugh
