Amazingly bringing your teen home can be as stressful as sending them away. My son has been home for one month and this some of he insight I shared with a parent with at teen that is aging out in a few weeks.

Then yesterday I was driving back listening to an audio book and thinking about this particular son and how things were going since he has returned home. For a moment I got agitated wondering why I was taking so much time out of my day to accommodate his needs. Once again I felt the pull of being the enabler. Then I looked out over the blue water on the bay as I drove over the bridge toward home and began to appreciate the beauty and became grateful that he appears to be integrating well at this school. Something I did not think would be possible once he returned home.

This is the son that I wonder if we have neglected because we have put so much energy into his older brothers issues. This is not that uncommon when you have one child with special needs.

Earthquakes are not always caused by mother nature, sometimes we have human produced earthquakes in our everyday lives. We had a couple over the Fourth of July weekend one that I really do not want to go into detail about since it was a relapse and devastating at the time. I think it was the relapse that I knew was looming out there and we had to get over it. I am just hoping that he has learned from his mistake and will make better choices next time. We seem to be getting back on track.
