When you hear about sexual offenders, the first thought that comes to most people’s minds are female victim male offender. It is not that uncommon for a women to victimize young boys. Sadly boys are less apt to report abuse than girls. It is the girl society is watching out for, the boy is supposed to be proud of his “sexual accomplishments”. We need to protect our boys and be more aware of who these predators may be. The boys are just as innocent as the girls and the results can be just as devastating. Boys during their pre-teen and early teen years are forming their sexual identity and to be violated can have long lasting emotional consequences; they can become traumatized and suffer from PTSD, post traumatic stress syndrome. Both can have lasting effects on their development.
