Heritage School Theatre Arts Program Changes At Risk Teens Lives

Heritage School is a residential treatment center for at-risk adolescents in Provo Utah near Provo Canyon. It is situated on 20 acres, with idealist mountains looming as a backdrop in a serene homelike setting specializing in a relationship based therapeutic program. Every year the Heritage School teens with the guidance of an experienced and talented staff put on a broadway play as part of their innovative theater arts program. This is a chance for at risk teens to share their talents, experience the disciplines of rehearsal, collaboration, and practice – and, for most, the first applause of their lives.

Heritage School Center Stage Fall 2008

Each summer, auditions are held for the September annual musical theater production – West Side Story, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Fiddler on the Roof, or The Wiz. Roles are found for every teen that wishes to participate. Renowned local theater and music professionals provide direction, set production, costumes and musical accompaniment for productions of Broadway-quality standards.

This year is the first production to be held in the newly built 627-seat Performing Arts Center the new home of Heritage Center Stage with a performance of  Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. This is a unique and innovative program that changes lives through the performing arts.  Heritage School is a non-profit and the Performing Arts Center has been made possible through many generous donations.

For more information, contact Karen at (801) 226-4653,  to make a donation or attend the upcoming performances on September 25, 26, and 27, 2008.  If you are in the area this is one production you will not want to miss. This is the performance that changes lives.
