Last night, my husband and I went out to dinner with another couple that lives down the street. They have two grown boys, both in college, recent empty nesters. Our waitress was reflecting on her recent adventure and journey to Burning Man relating to us some of her experiences. Burning Man is an annual event at the end of August in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada, this year 54,000 people attended. Our waitress’s son leads groups to the event and sets up camps for the participants with tents, showers and gourmet meals. I guess as the Baby Boomers age, the concern now is has it lost its appeal and is it becoming main stream? Actually, the idea of going with showers and gourmet meals made it more appealing and intriguing to me. What I did not realize Burning Man has been going on for over 22 years and how it all got started.
Once we returned home from a wonderful evening, I went to YouTube and researched videos on the event, since it is a visual experience, I thought that would be the best information. There were interesting videos and if you want more information go to YouTube and search on Burning Man 2008. But what really struck me was a documentary on how it all began and where it is today. Burning Man seems to have a life and existance of its own and relates to the human process, the stages of growing and developing from infancy to a mature adult. Watch the video and let me know what you think, at first it was an innocent event, then it became wild, now it has matured and become more predictable event.
