Parenting Lessons In Success and Failure
Parenting Lessons In Success and Failure

Failure seems to be the in-thing today.  I read a few of the commencement speeches this year to college graduates and they  talked about failure and learning how to fail. One specifically was the commencement speech by JK Rowling to Harvard Graduates. She spoke extensively about failure and then following your passion. If you don’t fail how will you know success? Personally, I can do without too much failure especially when it touches other peoples lives.

Everyday a tear drops, when I think of my teen in residential treatment and not living at home.  Talk about feeling like a failure as a parent; where did I go wrong? When he was an infant telling him how much I love him and wanting to be the best parent ever.  We ate dinners together, I worked from home, drove to school, picked them up in the afternoon, went on family vacations, laughed together, I don’t know if the guilt ever ends. Lying in bed and crying all day is not the option. I guess I am doing my job at failing, I am not giving up and looking forward to the success.

This quote inspired my thoughts:
“Success is going from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.”
- Winston Churchill

When times get tough what helps you make it through the day?
